About Us

Our Story

The Foundation was established from the proud legacy of the Ballan Bush Nursing Hospital, later known as Ballan District Health and Care (BDHC)—a community-owned and operated healthcare service founded through decades of local fundraising and volunteer effort.

Following the sale of BDHC, community members and past directors came together with one shared vision: to ensure that the proceeds continued to benefit the people who helped build it. That vision became the West Moorabool Foundation—a registered charity committed to health promotion, education, and community wellbeing.

Today, we honour that 50-year legacy by investing in projects that support local people in meaningful, practical ways. From mental health awareness to disease prevention, we’re ensuring the next generation of Moorabool residents can thrive.
